It is wonderful. Thank you.
Summer is just around the corner.
The weather has already changed and the students are ready to be foot
loose and fancy free. It is a very
busy time for all of us. Enjoy your
3 day weekend. Join the fun in the
Memorial Day Parade Monday. It is a
great way to represent the Academy and visit with friends and neighbors. 2010-2011 CHANGES IN TEACHING ASSIGNMENTS Although all
assignments are not finalized, there are a few things I can announce. Mrs. Morand
will continue in Kindergarten, Mrs. Messer will teach 1st grade, Mrs.
Cummins will teach 2nd and 3rd, Mrs. Frazier will teach 4th
grade and Mrs. Kennedy will teach 5th grade.
The Junior High assignments are not completed at this point. NO SCHOOL MONDAY Due to the
Memorial Day Holiday, we will not have school on Monday May 31st.
Enjoy the day and give thanks for all we have and those who have
sacrificed for us. GIRLS ON THE RUN A great BIG
THANKS to all the students and families who supported the Girls on the Run
Ice Cream Sale! Our profit was a whopping $70, which will be donated to
St. Raphael's along with all the Baby Shower gifts. The girls really
enjoyed the experience and appreciated the strong support of the school. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE As we celebrate the 101st Memorial Day Parade in
Reading on Monday, May 31st, we are asking for all SPPA supporters to join us as
we march and ride in the parade. All those wishing to join in the fun, please
meet at the Academy parking lot at 8:15am. If an Academy student wishes to ride
on the Academy float, they are asked to wear their school uniform. If they wish
to walk beside it, or ride a scooter or bike, they are asked to wear their
Academy spiritwear shirts. If they wish to walk beside the Running Scared
vehicle, they are asked to wear their green Clever Crazes Kids Fun Run shirts
from October's race last year. We will be leaving the Academy parking lot to
line up for the parade on Blanche Ave. (just 2 streets over in Arlington) at
8:30am. The parade starts at 9:00am and will travel through Arlington, Lockland
and Reading, to end at Koenig Park. All parents are asked to walk with your
child or be at the end of the route to pick your child up upon completion. There
will be no one to supervise the children at the Memorial Day VYO festival. Thanks
for your support! FROSTY FRIDAY If you have forgotten to turn in your order for

MRS.
DONNELLY’S NEWSLETTER MAY
13, 2010 Dear SPPA Parents, Thank
you for your children. For those of
you who were fortunate enough to make it to our Spring Music Program, you can
see what they are capable of. They
took ownership of their job as performers and put on a quite a show!
Now back to their first job, that of a student.
Only 2 weeks and a couple of days and they can relax.
Right now, it is time to focus on end of the quarter and end of the year
responsibilities, like exams, projects, presentations, etc.
It can be stressful for everyone. Good
food and plenty of rest helps. A
note of thanks to Mr. Humphreys for the fabulous music, to
Mrs. Harsch for the great art work, and Mr. McDaniel for coordinating the
book fair. Together they created
the wonderful evening we had Tuesday night.
Just when you think we cannot do one more thing, it all gets put together
into one evening and goes smoothly. I
personally enjoyed not only the presentation but also the family reunion
atmosphere I witnessed after the programs ended.
It is a great place to be! NEWSLETTER Due to a few issues with the electronic version of the newsletter getting to everyone, the newsletter will be sent home in the Thursday Envelope as in the past. I will continue to investigate ways to make this happen and try again later. Thank you for your input with this situation. GIRLS ON THE RUN The Girls on the Run Program has come to an end with the girls completing their 5K run this past weekend. Today they celebrate with their coaches. A special Thank You to Mrs. Messer, third grade teacher, and Vickie Koppenhafer, Instructional Tutor, for volunteering to be their coach. This program has proven to be beneficial for everyone involved.

MRS. DONNELLY’S NEWSLETTER APRIL 15, 2010 Dear SPPA Parents, Tax day has arrived! I guess we really do not need that reminder. I am not one of those who waits until the last day to turn mine in. On a more positive note, the weather has been exceptionally beautiful the last few days. Enjoy it while it lasts, next week is predicted to be back to reality. A REMINDER: This newsletter will only be sent electronically effective today. A NOTE REGARDING HONORS Students who make the honor roll are honored each time they receive their report card with a certificate of highest honors, first honors or second honors tucked inside their envelope. They open those cards and look to see which level they made or if they made it and they check to make sure their names are posted in the front lobby. Those students are filled with pride for their accomplishments. And they should be. It takes a lot of effort and energy to keep up that level of academic work. The faculty and I are very proud of all our students. The Award’s breakfast or lunch will honor all students at SPPA for a successful year. Yes, there will be a couple of students perhaps that did not work up to their potential, but they will not be singled out. Students in 8th grade will receive their awards graduation night. We will continue a tradition of positive reinforcement with recognition for all levels of achievement.
YANKEE CANDLE PICK UP If you have not picked up your Yankee Candle order, please come in when you pick up your children. Again, Thank you for all your hard work.
END OF THE YEAR There is so much going on in the next two months that I would like to give you a rundown of events. There will be other things I am sure that will need to be added, but this is a start. I know you all have a calendar that rivals this one, so you need everything planned as much as possible to help with your scheduling. CALENDAR OF EVENTS April Time to place book orders, plan faculty and classroom assignments, and teaching assignments. This cannot be done without an accurate number count of students. Our student count directly correlates to the amount of state dollars we receive. That determines the amount of money we have to spend on books, supplies, and special services. Please turn your registrations in by April 30th. We risk not getting books and supplies by the start of the school year by waiting to order this late. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. You are what make this school possible. Let’s keep it going strong with strong numbers early.
